Love is... Not Envious / A Study of Love as described in 1 Corinthians 13:4-8

When I read this part of the verse in the context of marriage I relate it to not being envious of other's relationships. I am the first one to say that I am not perfect in this area. It can get really hard seeing other couples enjoy each other so much especially when I am having days of feeling lonely in my own relationship.

One of the first steps to getting better at not being envious of other relationships is the realization that "the grass may not be greener on the other side" and even if the grass is greener on the other side you can water and fertilize the grass you already have so it also grows greener. Instead of focusing on what other couples strengths are, work towards focusing on things that can grow your own relationship. Your dream relationship will take some work but so does a gorgeous garden!

What can you do today to "fertilize" your relationship?

Here are a few ideas to get you started:

  1. Instead of waiting to be asked on a date, Ask him! Set the plans yourself, put on a beautiful outfit with some makeup and take your man on a date.

  2. Give him extra hugs and kisses

  3. Write a love note to put in his lunch box for work

  4. Do something special for him

  5. Start a conversation about something he likes and show genuine interest

  6. Jump in the shower with him. Not only do you save water but you get that intimate time thats just between you and him

  7. Scratch his back. I don't know about your man but a good back scratch can change my husband's whole demeanor

  8. Wear a sexy outfit to bed and be ready to follow through wink wink

  9. Make him a hot dinner and dessert for when he gets home

  10. Say I love you and I am thankful for you. Men need to hear that they are wanted and appreciated. You may think this but he needs to hear it!
