Self-seeking is when your motive in the things you do is only for self. While I agree that love is not self seeking I want to make it VERY CLEAR that you must take care of yourself too. Being not self seeking doesn't mean that you stop doing things for yourself. I think as die hard wives we can take the not self-seeking to the opposite extreme by living our entire lives for our husband and children which is also not a good thing. 1 Corinthians 6:19-20 "Do you not know that your bodies are temples of the Holy Spirit, who is in you, whom you have received from God? You are not your own; you were bought at a price. Therefore honor God with your bodies." God wants us to take care of ourselves and our bodies. He also wants us to conduct ourselves while thinking of others needs.
In your actions and words each day be mindful of how this can help your entire family and not just yourself. To relate this to marriage, a simple act of getting your husband a coffee when your getting one for yourself. Throughout the day ask yourself, how can I think of my husband in this moment.
I'm going to keep this one short because if you are a wife reading this blog I can already tell you that you are not self-seeking. We can always get better in every area though so this week your goal is to think of a way you can serve your husband's needs with your actions. Hint hint: Taking care of yourself and building your confidence will be helping him too and fulfilling his needs.
