Love can take on so many forms these days. Everyone has their own opinions about love and level of significance to its meaning. To me love is a big deal. Love is a powerful tool that can help us get through any circumstance. Love is not a feeling, it is a choice. Its a choice you have to make every minute of every day.
I'm sure you've already gathered that I am Christian from talking about prayer but I will preface it again. And don't worry I'm not one of those judgey throw the bible in your face kind of Christians. I know no one is perfect and that the way to heaven is by believing in Jesus. I will use verses from the Bible in my posts but guess what, its whats helped me through so of course I'm going to share it.
Now that we've got that out of the way... haha. I want to dive into the verses that I choose to live by when it concerns love. When you get married you make a commitment to God and in front of all your friends and family to LOVE this person til death do you part. So what is this commitment your making and what does it mean to God? Let's dive into 1 Corinthians 13:4-8.
"4 Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. 5 It does not dishonor others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. 6 Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. 7 It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres. 8 Love never fails. But where there are prophecies, they will cease; where there are tongues, they will be stilled; where there is knowledge, it will pass away."
There is a lot jam packed into this verse about love so I want to take each part one by one in different blog posts. I will create a category for this series so it will be easy to go back to. While you wait for the next blog post, really read through that verse and let it seep in. I keep a printed copy above my office desk at home too so when I'm falling short or having a rough time remembering why I'm staying I can read this.
Love is powerful and can create beautiful things if we adhere to what love truly is.
